Hands On Care giver With Practical Experience

Hello! I'm Heather Care giving is something that comes naturally to me as I come from a closely knitted family and community. I have been looking after sick family members since I was a teenager, including my late mother and father who both had chronic conditions. Before I relocated, I was looking after my maternal grandmother who is a hypertensive and cardiac patient. My skills include: • Noting doctor's appointments dates and days and accompanying them to said appointments and reviews. • Sitting in with them and doctor during consultation if required, to assist patient in noting down issues of concern, treatment plans, dietary requirements and communicating with doctors when the patient has difficulties with articulation. Also communicating with their families. • Noting down prescriptions and going to the pharmacy for purchases or refills if required Food safety and cooking for individuals with disabilities, physical challenges or chronic illness • Cleaning and providing sanitary conditions • Good communication skills to ease their anxiety and creating a conducive environment that supports their physical and mental well being . • Good observation skills as to the daily general wellness and pallor, in case medical intervention is needed sooner than later. • Administration of prescribed medicine as per instructions by medical doctors. I am confident that I can fulfill the requirements of a caregiver. I have the aptitude to partake in mentally demanding situations, as I am good at maintaining a cool head and calm state of mind. I am very much aware of the challenges that come with such a role. I am available for shifts and on call work.
